Profile

Vibskov & Emenius is the collaborative art project of danish designer Henrik Vibskov and swedish artist Andreas Emenius, both graduates from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, in 2000. In 2007 they began work on 'The Fringe Projects' - ten works in form of installations, objects, performances, video and self-portraits, exploring illusion, surface, and movement, completed in 2009

All ten fringe projects, the production process including sketches and an essay by Hannah Heilmann, have been compiled in the book 'The Fringe Projects 1-10' (144p JapSam Books, 2009).

For the first time, in Feb 2009, 'The Fringe Projects' were exhibited as a whole series at Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg, the Netherlands. (www.zeeuwsmuseum.nl) where Vibskov & Emenius had a dialogue with the rooms of the Museum and its unique cultural historic collection in a 'take-over' of the museum. The exhibition consist of the ten projects that make up 'The Fringe Projects' as well as three site specific works produced for the museum, including 'the Tapestry' which Zeeuws Museum has bought for their permanent collection.

'The Circular Series' is Vibskov & Emenius new series of artworks, which they begun work on in 2009. Like in their earlier collaboration 'The Fringe Projects' where the fringe is used formally, the circle is used as a clarifier, or visual glue, linking all the projects to the same universe. As a formal experiment the circle is interesting in relation to material, form, and motion. If you dig a little bit deeper, the Circular Series is about identity and inclusion, and about a persons place in the world, between fantasy, and self-made.

Vibskov & Emenius has so far exhibited in Paris, Copenhagen, London, Milan, Zurich, Rotterdam, Washington, Bremen and Middleburg.
